Modern Apartment Renovation | Clapham, South West London

Brief

This project involved the complete architectural and aesthetic transformation of a high-potential apartment situated in the heart of Clapham, South West London. The original space felt constrained and dated, largely due to a cumbersome spiral staircase and a layout that failed to capitalise on the property’s natural light. Our client’s brief was to create a sophisticated, light-filled sanctuary that balanced contemporary luxury with everyday functionality. The redesign encompasses a full overhaul of the living area, a high-end kitchen installation, and a versatile guest bedroom, all tailored to reflect a premium South West London lifestyle.

Design Approach

Our approach centered on maximising the impressive vertical volume provided by the internal mezzanine. We replaced the restrictive spiral staircase with a bespoke oak staircase, featuring elegant iron banisters and spindles to create a sense of openness and flow. To address the lack of light, we implemented an architectural lighting scheme through ambient lighting layers that highlight the height of the mezzanine while creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.

In the kitchen, we introduced a palette of neutral, timeless tones paired with high-spec finishes and integrated lighting. A key highlight of the project was the conversion of an underutilised room into a multi-functional space. By installing bespoke joinery and integrated storage, we created a high-end home office that seamlessly transitions into a luxurious guest bedroom, ensuring the client’s home works perfectly well.
